Have you ever wondered what happens to your Bebbi Sagg (blue rubbish bag) once it is collected? Or what the two smoking red and white towers between Basel and the airport are for? Zero Waste Basel and International Volunteers for WWF Switzerland invite you to a behind the scenes tour of Basel’s (and surrounding area’s) waste incineration facility to have both questions answered. Get a glimpse of how much rubbish is produced by you and your fellow Baselers and see what happens to it once it leaves your home. Don`t miss this chance to get a fresh perspective on why we should produce less waste.
Places are limited so sign up before October 20 for the tour, which will be held in English.
Important: Wearing flat, closed footwear and clothes covering your legs is obligatory to participate. Due to safety reasons, the tour is not suitable for wheelchairs or people using crutches. And please arrive no later than 13:45.
How to get there by public transport:
- Bus Stop “Im Wasenboden” (Bus 36 and 50)
- Walk along Flughafenstrasse in direction of the airport
- Turn right in the industrial area
- The visitor center has a large glass front and is indicated
