ZeroWaste Switzerland is encouraging more and more schools to get involved in the Zero Waste movement, adopting sustainable practices to reduce their environmental footprint and create a cleaner, healthier environment for their pupils and their community.
Our educational activities form part of the Zero Waste initiative and contribute to the transition towards a circular economy. They aim to raise pupils’ awareness of the issues surrounding waste and sustainable consumption, whilst providing them with practical tools to take action in their daily lives and become agents of change.
Activities
An Introduction to Zero Waste
Audience : Cycle 1 (1-2P ; 3-4P)
Duration : 45 minutes

Through interactive activities, pupils learn about the principles of Zero Waste and the 5 Rs. The workshop enables them to explore these concepts in a fun way through age-appropriate activities, such as a story, a craft activity, or a ‘Jeu du sac’ (bag game) that allows them to discover waste through touch and sight.
Zero Waste Mission
Audience : Cycle 2 (5-6P ; 7-8P)
Duration : 90 minutes

Following an introduction to the challenges of waste in Switzerland and the Zero Waste approach, the pupils take part in a number of activities in small groups, learning about the 5 Rs and reusable alternatives to reduce waste in their daily lives. The session concludes with a group task during which the pupils brainstorm practical ways to reduce waste within their school.

This workshop raises pupils’ awareness of the issues surrounding food waste and food wastage. Pupils learn how to reduce waste through fun, age-appropriate activities, such as a ‘Jeu du bac à compost’ (Compost Bin Game), a recipe designed to minimise waste, and a ‘Goûter Zéro Déchet‘ (Zero-Waste Snack) challenge.

Audience : Cycle 3 (9ème-11ème)
Duration : 90 min

This programme is structured around three themes: textile consumption, electronic waste and drinks packaging. Through a range of interactive activities, pupils are encouraged to reflect on the environmental issues facing the society in which we live.
I’m going for Zéro Gaspi
Audience : post-compulsory (post-obligatoire) (15-19 year old)
Duration : 90 min
This activity helps students understand the issues surrounding food waste and reflect on their eating habits. Through a hands-on activity, they prepare a recipe designed to minimise waste and discover practical tips for reducing waste in their daily lives.
My Zero Waste Project
Audience : young adults (19-21 year old)
Duration : 6 months
This activity enables students to work in small groups to create a project close to their hearts on the topic of waste reduction. The association offers support with the design and implementation of the project, including three follow-up meetings and a presentation on the project’s progress at the end of the six months.
